Cucujoidea

The Coleoptera superfamily Cucujoidea is extremely poorly known given the extreme size and diversity of the group.

In collaboration with J. McHugh (University of Georgia), M. Whiting and I are collaborating to improve the taxonomic and phylogenetic knowledge of the Cerylonid-series of families within the Cucujoidea.

For this work we recently received a PEET grant from NSF. Our work will include revisions of several genera, phylogenetic analysis of several groups to place them within the Cerylonid-series and a phylogenetic analysis of the Cucujoidea primarily emphasizing placement of the Cerylonid series of families. We will be using adult and larval morphology and several DNA markers.

For more information see the Cerylonid Series website.
